Electric Love Music Festival: International Headliners, Local Talent, Family Friendly Enviroment

This year marks the 50th anniversary of 1967’s iconic Summer of Love. Electric Love Music Festival pays homage to that magical summer by creating an atmosphere that encourages free expression and invites all to dance and be free. This family friendly festival is held on July 28-31 in beautiful Agassiz, BC. Going into its third year, the festival features four themed stages with performances by international headliners and local favorites that will span across the musical spectrum. With the release of their 2017 line-up Electric Love Festival has solidified its place as one of western Canada’s premiere independent music festivals. Creating a solid foundation off of the principles of peace, love, unity and respect the festival is entirely free from corporate sponsorship. A dedicated group of artists, staff and volunteers turn the Cheam Fishing Village into a magical oasis for its attendees.

With the unveiling of the Electric Love Festivals musical line-up the organizers have shown us their commitment to musical excellence. The line-up features some of the best musical acts the world has to offer as well as some of Canada's amazing home brewed talent. It features international headliners, such as Oliver, Plump DJ’s and Haywyre, alongside Canadian favorites, such as AutoErotique, Five Alarm Funk and Stickybuds. The festival is very committed to homegrown talent and strives to include as many regional acts on the line-up as possible. Hometown heroes and local favorites such as Longwalkshortdock, Skiitour and Kytami will be representing the western Canadian bass music scene. With such a diverse musical line up and four unique stages you are sure to find something pleasurable for your ears.

Below are few artists that I am really looking forward to seeing at Electric Love Festival 2017.

Liquid Stranger-Sweden

Liquid Stranger has been providing diverse and expertly crafted bass heavy soundscapes for the better part of a decade. Renowned for his metamorphic capabilities and expertly crafted sonic adventures, Liquid Stranger has mastered the ability to slip in and out of genres all while honing his own personal style. Fresh off the release of his Weird and Wonderful EP his unique genre bending style will be sure to keep you entertained.

Kytami- Victoria, B.C.

Blurring the lines between classical and electronic Kytami fuses classical fiddle styles with the bass heavy elements of hip-hop, D&B and dubstep. Dubbed a “music revolutionary” by What’s Up magazine she has been summoned to bring her violin thunder to audiences all over the world. She soars above the constraints of musical genre and is often called Canada’s most diverse and engaging fiddle player. Kytami plays the fiddle like a woman possessed and destroys dance floors with her unique blend of old school sounds and new school styles.

Desert Dwellers- USA

Coming together in the late 90’s the duo enjoys a reputation as one of the most creative and cutting edge downtempo and tribal trance acts in the world. The Desert Dwellers have toured extensively all across the globe and have even spent 7 weeks on tour with renowned psychedelic artist Sphongle. They skillfully combine the raw sounds of the natural world with deep bass, earthy percussion and multi-cultural instrumentation to create an immersive sonic experience. Taking a new approach to digital music production they are bringing the sounds of the world to the electronic music scene. Dessert Dwellers global sounds are the bridge between the worlds of dance and movement.

Here are three artists whose sets you definitely won't want to miss at Electric Love 2017.

Stickybuds- Kelowna, B.C.

From the funky depths of the Canadian west, Stickybuds has been touring the world and releasing awesome music for almost a decade. In that time he has been able to hone his skills, mastering tempo changes and acapellas, and keeps it interesting by playing a wide variety of unique genres. His dynamic DJ’ing style is sure to whip any dancefloor into a funky frenzy. It’s easy to get lost as Stickybuds takes you on a musical journey that spans multiple genres and a variety of soundscapes. He masterfully combines elements of hip-hop, reggae and funk with grimy bass music such as glitch hop and D&B. He is a genuine lover of quality music and is sure to keep the dancefloor grooving the whole night through.

Longwalkshortdock- Vancouver, B.C.

This man is an entertainer in the truest sense of the word. His high energy performances are infectious and almost guaranteed to leave you with a huge smile on your face. Longwalkshortdock has a very unique sound that is easily distinguishable and heavily influenced by the hard gritty electronic music from classic video games. The combination of crunchy basslines and melodic synths are a treat for the ear and sure to keep you moving around the dancefloor. His musicality and stage presence will grip you and his quirky personality and shark puppet named Chompers will worm their way into your heart.

Skiitour- Whistler, B.C.

I hope you were planning on bringing your snowsuits to Electric Love because with these guys on the line-up the forecast is calling for snow. The duo has been performing together since 2010 and they feed off of each other as they deliver a high energy performance. Skiitour has developed something of a cult following and you can guarantee that the crowd will be decked out in their funkiest ski gear weather or not the duo decide to unleash their signature snow machines. You would swear that you were at an après ski party on some mountain resort not jamming out in the woods in the middle of summer. It is almost impossible not to get caught up in the fun atmosphere as the duo provides the crowd with a variety of bouncy beats. Expect the unexpected when Skiitour takes the stage.
